Karnataka Folklore University (Karnataka Janapada University), also recognized as Karnataka Jaanapada Vishwavidyalaya, is a public institution established in 2011 in Haveri district by the Karnataka Government. Dedicated solely to the study and research of folklore, it proudly holds the distinction of being the world’s first university of its kind. Inaugurated on June 16, 2012, by the former Chief Minister of Karnataka, D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the university is located in Gotagodi, Shiggaon, Karnataka, India. Offering a range of degrees including M.A. in various fields, as well as MBA, MPhil, and PhD programs, it remains a pioneering institution in the realm of folklore education and research.
